GIVE BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY
Targeted Legal Campaigns for Real-World Impact
From housing justice for single mothers of autistic children to defending neglected seniors from eviction, SELATAG’s legal campaigns bring focused, community-based solutions to those most at risk—one issue, one neighborhood at a time.
Current Campaign: Helping Moms of Disabled Kids Stay Housed
We’re fighting to keep caregiving families from losing their homes—and the services their children need to survive.
The Problem
Families raising children with developmental disabilities are at high risk for housing instability. They are more likely to:
- Face eviction after asking for disability-related accommodations
- Live in substandard or unsafe units due to inability to relocate
- Miss court deadlines or legal windows due to caregiving demands
The Gap
These tenants fall between the cracks because:
- Legal aid can’t meet the demand
- Tenant protections are under-enforced
- Regional Centers can’t provide housing advocacy
Our Model: Efficient, Preventive, Targeted
We serve the families most likely to fall into homelessness.
We provide:
- Culturally specific, bilingual education rooted in legal accuracy
- Step-by-step advocacy tools tailored to disabled children’s needs
- Preventive navigation before crisis sets in
What Your Funding Supports
- On-the-ground workshops and printed materials in LA’s Gateway Cities
- Emergency 1-on-1 legal navigation for families in eviction crisis
- Policy advocacy and data collection to build legislative traction
Why It Matters
Housing is not separate from disability rights. Losing housing is losing therapy hours, school access, and medical continuity. We keep families stable so that caregivers can focus on care.
