SELATAG: Connecting Underserved Communities with Trusted Legal Support.
Planting seeds that bloom into safe homes, vital services, and a caring community
Our Mission
The Southeast Los Angeles Tenant Assistance Group (SELATAG) connects tenants in Los Angeles County to free legal help and tenant lawyers. As a State Bar–certified Lawyer Referral Service in Southeast LA and Orange County, we help renters facing eviction, unsafe housing, and landlord disputes. We provide:
Free referrals to attorneys who can give legal advice for LA County tenants through our helpline
Direct referrals to qualified tenant rights attorneys
Bilingual housing workshops in Spanish and English
Plain-language guides on California tenant law
Special support for families with children receiving Regional Center services
We bridge the justice gap by linking vulnerable communities to tenant lawyers who protect their housing rights. Every Southeast LA resident deserves quality legal help to maintain stable, dignified housing.
Our Motivation
SELATAG isn’t just another nonprofit. We’re a legal referral service built for people who usually fall through the cracks: single moms raising autistic kids, isolated seniors getting pushed around, and others the system quietly overlooks.
Our job is to connect them with vetted lawyers who actually know what they’re doing. Through community outreach and targeted campaigns, we cut through the noise and help real people access the legal help they’d otherwise never get. It's not charity; it’s about leveling the playing field.
SELATAG stands for Southeast Los Angeles Tenant Assistance Group.
We provide free legal referral service to renters facing unsafe or unfair housing conditions.
Our team helps tenants understand their rights and take legal action when necessary.
We assist with issues like mold, vermin, harassment, discrimination, and wrongful eviction.
SELATAG works directly in communities across South East LA to empower and protect renters.
We rely on outreach, education, and advocacy to promote safe, dignified housing for all.
